Title Best Trainer Cards of 2026: Top 10 Full Art & SAR Trainers (JP vs EN) above a podium of Japanese Rosa's Encouragement, Gwynn and Zinnia's Trust Special Art Rares, on a purple Pacific Card Exchange banner.
On this page (9)

The best trainer cards of 2026 are almost all Supporters, and the most valuable ones are Special Art Rares. This list ranks the new trainer cards released this year, compares each Japanese card with its English version, and shows which sealed Japanese box it comes from and what that box costs today. Prices as of Oct 14, 2026.

What counts as 2026

"2026" means trainer cards first released in 2026. In Japanese, that's the five sets out between Jan 1 and Oct 14, 2026:

30th CELEBRATION (M6A)Wed, Sep 16, 202630th CelebrationWed, Sep 16, 2026

We rank by the Japanese card's TCGplayer market price and count full arts only: Super Rares and Special Art Rares. Reprints are left out, so 30th CELEBRATION adds no new entries. English Ascended Heroes came out in January 2026, but most of its cards first appeared in Japan's MEGA Dream ex in November 2025, so they belong to last year's list.

Rosa's Encouragement is the clear number one, worth about twice the next card. Gwynn and Zinnia's Trust follow, well behind. Rosa's price is also the most volatile on the list: as of Oct 14, 2026, the lowest TCGplayer listing was $42.35 against a $59.51 market price. The only Super Rare in the top five is Misty's Spirit, a full art that sells above most of 2026's trainer Special Art Rares. Prices move daily.

Ranked by TCGplayer market price of the Japanese card, as of Oct 14, 2026. Prices for each card are in the sections below.

The list reaches across the games. Of the eight characters in the top 10, three debuted in Gen 6: Zinnia and Aarune in the Hoenn remakes Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, and AZ in X & Y. Two, Gwynn and Jacinthe, debuted in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which counts as Gen 9. Misty debuted in Gen 1 (Kanto), Rosa in Gen 5 (Unova) and Gladion in Gen 7 (Alola).

The cards and the boxes they come from

Every card here is pulled from a Japanese booster box that's still on our board, so each section ends with that box's live price vs TCGplayer.

Nihil Zero (M3): Rosa's Encouragement and Jacinthe

Rosa's Encouragement 115/080 is the top trainer card of the year. As of Oct 14, 2026, the Japanese copy is $59.51 on TCGplayer and the English Perfect Order copy is $38.31, so this is one 2026 card where Japanese costs more. Rosa debuted in Black 2 & White 2 (Gen 5, Unova).

Storm Emeralda (M6): Zinnia's Trust and Aarune

Storm Emeralda's trainers are Japanese-only for now. English Delta Reign arrives Nov 6, 2026, so there's no English price to compare yet. Both Zinnia and Aarune debuted in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire (Gen 6), the remakes of the Hoenn games, rather than in the original Gen 3 releases. Zinnia's Trust is the set's best trainer in both its Special Art Rare and Super Rare versions, and Aarune's Special Art Rare makes the top 10.

AZ's Tranquility 118/083 is the best Ninja Spinner trainer, and it shows the gap at its widest: $7.70 in Japanese vs $20.90 in English. AZ debuted in X & Y (Gen 6, Kalos) and returns in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Roxie's Performance 119/083 just misses the top 10, at $7.19 in Japanese vs $16.54 in English; Roxie debuted in Black 2 & White 2 (Gen 5, Unova).

30th CELEBRATION (M6A)

30th CELEBRATION has no new trainer Special Art Rares. Its trainer cards are reprints of classics, led by N 153/103, plus basic Items, so none of them make this list. See the 30th CELEBRATION price board for the box.

Only Supporters hold real value

All 10 cards above are Supporters. The full-art Items, Stadiums and Tools from 2026 sets are cheap: as of Oct 14, 2026, the best Japanese one, the Surfing Beach Stadium Super Rare from Ninja Spinner, is $2.01, and the best English one, Poké Pad from Perfect Order, is $8.42.

That matters when you open a box. A factory-sealed main-set MEGA box (M3 to M6) follows a strong pattern: one Item, Tool or Stadium Super Rare, plus one Super Rare or better that can be any Pokémon or Supporter card. So you can usually count on a full-art Item, Tool or Stadium, but it's usually a cheap one. No box pattern guarantees a Supporter Special Art Rare; one can land in the Super Rare-or-better slot, but so can any Pokémon card. The pattern applies to factory-sealed full boxes only and isn't an official promise.

Japanese vs English: it depends on the era

For the six 2026 Supporter Special Art Rares with an English version, the Japanese copy is cheaper for four: Gladion's Showdown, Jacinthe, AZ's Tranquility and Roxie's Performance. The two most valuable, Rosa's Encouragement and Gwynn, cost more in Japanese. Across the whole MEGA era, Japanese trainer Special Art Rares are cheaper on 10 of 14 matched cards.

Scarlet & Violet is different. There, the most popular Japanese Supporters often cost far more than their English copies. The biggest example is Iono, who debuted in Scarlet & Violet (Gen 9, Paldea), from Clay Burst: $296.26 for the Japanese Special Art Rare vs $46.85 for the English Paldea Evolved Special Illustration Rare, as of Oct 14, 2026.

That demand is one reason some older Japanese boxes hold their value. The Clay Burst box is still on our board:
